The goal of occupational therapy is to use a child’s occupation, which is play, as well as being a student, in order to help them reach their fullest potential. Occupational therapy addresses skills including fine motor, hand-eye coordination, sensory processing, social interaction and activities of daily living (i.e. feeding, toileting, dressing, bathing). Based on your child’s evaluation performed before they even begin occupational therapy, the Occupational Therapist will review the areas of deficit and use your child’s occupation of play in order to create goals to allow your child to improve within those areas.
